FAQ hardware

Does a lococube® have a serial interface?

Each STG-8xx lococube® provides a serial TTL-232 port (with 3.3V level). This port ensures use as a classic 232 interface if programming is carried out in C. In this case a level converter from 3.3V TTL to RS-232 is required. If the miCon-L Software Suite is used, this serial interface is reserved for application communication only.

Can I connect a stepper motor to a lococube®?

It is easily possible to connect a unipolar stepper motor to a STG-8xx lococube® (e.g. RS item #191-8299). In this case, a small program in miCon-L, C or Arduino ™ is sufficient to control the stepper motor. Thus, small motion & control applications can be easily realized.
The sample programs are available HERE.

Which connector type is used with the lococube®s?

Manufacturer: Phoenix Contact
Type: COMBICON FMC1.5
Pitch: 3.5mm

2-pin FMC1.5 / 2-ST-3.5 (BK)
3-pin FMC1.5 / 3-ST-3.5 (BK)
4-pin FMC1.5 / 4-ST-3.5 (BK)
9-pin FMC1.5 / 9-ST-3.5 (BK)
10-pin FMC1.5 / 10-ST-3.5 (BK)

Why am I measuring a voltage on an inactive output?

Due to a very low leakage current, a voltage can be measured at an inactive, unloaded output. A slight load of approx. 1mA causes this voltage to drop to zero.
